God keeps his promises to Abraham through Isaac and his son, Jacob, even though Jacob lies to receive the blessing.
The story of Jacob shows how God, who faithfully promised to bless all nations through Abraham (12:1‑3), also promised to be with Jacob and protect him wherever he went (28:13-15). God’s big plan for the world also includes his care of individuals.
In contrast to the faithful promises of God, this story also shows the deceitful scheming of people – a deceit that will tear a family apart. This will be the platform that God uses to show his great mercy by keeping his promises and restoring relationships.
For copyright reasons, the activity sheets can be provided only while the lessons are in progress, so that only those who need them can get them, and are no longer available.
Hold the two Jacobs together with the smooth Jacob in front (hold as 1 card). Put them into Isaac’s tent. ‘Smooth Jacob’ can be seen through the window. Tell the story of Rebekah’s deception and bring out ‘hairy Jacob’ back card only, leaving the tent apparently empty.
