Dear parents,

This week we will learn that we can trust God to do what he has promised even when our godly choices mean that we seem to be losing out.

Text:Genesis 13:1-18
Big Idea:Abraham trusts God to give him the land he promised despite Lot choosing the better looking land for himself. God affirms his promise to Abraham.

What promises has God made that require faithful obedience?  Can you think of a godly decision you have made which has led to loss or disappointment?  Sometimes the heartache of such decisions can continue for years or even decades as we learn to trust and wait for the Lord’s blessing in His time.  What is the antidote when we struggle to see God’s kind provision at such times of disappointment?  We need to remember what the Psalmist wrote:

The Lord will keep all His promises.  He is faithful in everything He does.

Psalm 145:13b (NIrV)

Here is some craft that the children can do:

For copyright reasons, the activity sheets can be provided only while the lessons are in progress, so that only those who need them can get them, and are no longer available.

And here are another couple of activities that the children can choose one of to do before or after class.  Please help the children to print one:

Print Activity A.  The children colour the picture.  Use it to reinforce the lesson by pointing out the good pasture land and the city versus the less attractive land that Abraham had to settle for.

Print Activity B.  The children colour the picture. They will need to draw a city on Lot’s side and trees on Abraham’s side. Ask them which land looked better.  Then ask which land was actually better.

In Him,
